1 jar Cinnamon Pear Jelly or Pear Fig Jam
½ c. butter
¼ c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg, separated
½ tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
¼ tsp. salt
¾ c finely chopped nuts
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Mix butter, sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla thoroughly.
Blend together flour and salt: stir in wet ingredients.
Roll dough into balls (1 tsp. per ball).
Beat egg white slightly with fork.
Dip dough balls in egg white; roll in nuts.
Place dough balls about 1” apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Press thumb gently into center of each to make a slight depression.
Bake 10-12 minutes or until set.
Allow to cool before filling centers with jelly. (If not serving right away, store without jelly, then add right before serving.)
Yields approximately 2 dozen cookies.
